Thank Me. Your Nails Will, Too…  When I read this article in the New York Times, I sat back…wondered just how far folks will go to “Have The Style”?  Well I have too, we all have if we are honest!  Have you ever lived for your finger nails?  To look at them every day to make sure they are still intact, no chips, color good?  Call in panic to your nail tech,  ”I broke my nail” “Do you have time to fix it?”  Then to be told “Oh I am sorry I just cannot fit you into my schedule today.  Tomorrow Okay?”   When this happened to me I felt I was down on my Luck,  my disappointment over powered me.  Until I realized that I could put a band-aid on it and no one would see it.  Yes Smile because I know I am not the only one that thinks this way!  Especially when you are out in the public and Image is EVERYTHING!

“One day, a couple of weeks into our run, I became more adventurous. I opted for a red gel — a cheerful shade, like a red lollipop — and right away took to flaunting my nails onstage, gesturing with them, beaming them into the audience.

After our run ended, my manicure still looked as fresh as if I’d had it done only moments before. It was an excellent conversation piece, or at least an excellent way of turning the conversation toward the subject of me. “My, look at your nails!” people would say. And I’d say, “Oh, I just did ‘Love, Loss’ over at the Westside.”

At the same time, the polish had started to bother me. I missed my real nails. New little moons had appeared. My nails were yearning to breathe, but my polish wouldn’t let them.

And yet, even as the weeks passed and my claim to fame wore thin while my manicure did not, I couldn’t give them up. They were my character! They were my fun time! I felt about them the way I do about my children’s frayed old baby blankets.”
