Homeless folks come in all shapes, sizes, age, ethic origin & Male 0r Female. In these economical times we even read how we not only have record breaking numbers of homeless folks nationwide but homeless animals also! Can you imagine the heartbreak of a pet owner, what is going through their head when the reality of having to leave behind their loving, sole mate, 4 legged pet when they themselves do not know even where they are going to end up.

The Following Article which is on the Hasting Group, feeding the homeless:

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – While the local communities continue to recover from Hurricane Sandy, the Project Share program was out at the Hastings Farmer’s Market Saturday to raise money for its 23rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless.

Since 1989, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving has meant a warm and wonderful turkey dinner for some of the region’s homeless. The event is sponsored, paid for and hosted by Project Share and has grown from 125 guests in 1989 to more than 300 men, women and children from New York City and Westchester County each Thanksgiving.

The dinner is at Hastings High School, whose students volunteer as servers. It also features basketball, games, arts and crafts and a clown for entertainment.

Donors can seat a guest for $25 or a table of 10 guests for $250. Donations are made payable to Share the Project, Inc., and can be mailed to 161 Broadway, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, 10706. The group also is taking donations to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Contributions also may be made Saturday at the Hastings Farmers’ Market at the Village Hall parking lot or by visiting the Share the Project website at sharingtheproject.wordpress.com.

You just cannot get any better than this, we all, in every town, city, suburban area should be doing this very same thing! It is a shame for us to be in the richest nation in the World and to have so so many homeless individuals, every age, race: Homelessness is NON discriminating…While politicians spent trillions of dollars in campaign money…Just think of the people that could be helped, the children that could go to bed at night without their stomachs hurting from the pain of emptiness!

Retailers Hope For Good Start on Black Friday. Christmas is Coming, Hanukkah is coming, the Holiday Season is coming…Will you be ready? The good news for retailers: an early Thanksgiving means the season is longer with 33 shopping days.But the economy is still sluggish and Washington atmospherics have rattled consumers.

“Retailers are very concerned about the fiscal cliff situation,”said Ellen Davis, vice-president of the National Retail Federation. “In a recent survey, 72 percent of consumers say they were changing their shopping pattern as a result of the uncertainty of the situation.”

Also dampening the forecast is super-storm Sandy. By one estimate, nearly 5 million households in its path will have to curb spending this year.

To counter, the retailers are going all in, already offering discounts. And like last year, some stores will start opening on thanksgiving at midnight, with Wal-mart, Target, Sears and Toys ‘R Us opening even earlier in a fierce competition to get the very first shoppers.

There are apparently over 150 different bands and comedy acts going to participate in the venue! Maybe the kids of today will celebrate their freedom this way.
